Going for Gold: UK Hotels Shine with Green Tourism Gold Award

We’re excited to share that The Westin London City, Canopy London City, Holiday Inn London – Camden Lock, and Holiday Inn Express St. Albans have all received the Green Travel Gold award in the Green Tourism Certification Programme. This is a recognition that highlights our commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism. The award celebrates businesses that meet the highest standards in environmental practices and demonstrate a strong ethos across the three core pillars of People, Places, and Planet.
The Green Travel Gold award is a testament to the significant changes the hotels have made in their working practices, and the ongoing efforts to maintain and improve them. Achieving this honour places us among over 2,800 members across 30 countries that are committed to building a more sustainable tourism and hospitality industry. Green Tourism, the global organisation that has supported us in our journey, has been leading sustainability accreditation for over 25 years and is recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
Green Tourism’s comprehensive certification process evaluated our sustainability practices in areas such as waste management, energy efficiency, water conservation, community engagement, and more. This rigorous assessment has verified that we are not only committed to sustainability but are actively leading the way in implementing meaningful changes across all areas of our business. This award recognises the below efforts:
- Supporting and contributing to the local community and its growth
- Working ethically and responsibly while minimising the environmental impact
- Maintaining sustainability standards and best practices throughout the hotel operations
- Ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all visitors and team members

About 4C Group
4C Group manages and develops properties and hotels in key business districts and leisure hot spots across the UK, East Africa and Canada. The company was formed in 2010, building on the foundations of a family property business that stretches back to the 1990s.
In 2021, 4C Group added two new developments to their portfolio including the five-star Westin London City and Canopy by Hilton London City. Both hotels represent the first in the UK-based Marriott and Hilton luxury and lifestyle brands market.
In 2022, 4C Group partnered with Regal London and Pluto Finance to deliver The Haydon, a residential tower of 87 apartments in Aldgate in the heart of the City of London, which is now complete.
