A Year of Sustainability, Innovation and Impact: Celebrating Our Green Champion Graduates
22 June 2026
Last week, the Green Champions and the General Managers across 4C Group came together at Holiday Inn London – Camden Lock to celebrate the graduation of the 2025/26 cohort, recognising the outstanding efforts of Green Champions who have led responsible business initiatives across seven hotels throughout the year. The ceremony marked an important milestone in the Group’s Responsible Business journey, celebrating a year of turning sustainability ambitions into measurable action.

Throughout the 2025/26 programme, Green Champions worked alongside hotel teams to drive environmental improvements, raise awareness, and inspire positive behavioural change.
Collectively, their efforts contributed to significant achievements across the Group, including:
- Increasing group-wide recycling rates from 38% to 59%
- Reducing food waste intensity by more than 16%
- Saving over 26,000 kWh of electricity
- Recycling 257 tonnes of materials
- Avoiding approximately 5 tonnes of carbon emissions
These results demonstrate how individual actions, when combined across multiple hotels and teams, can deliver meaningful and measurable impact.

Throughout the year, Green Champions led a wide range of initiatives designed to improve environmental performance while engaging colleagues and communities.
Projects included food waste reduction campaigns, enhanced waste tracking processes, Earth Day electricity reduction challenges, and the introduction of “No Bin Fridays” within staff canteens to encourage more mindful consumption habits.
Beyond operational improvements, Green Champions also helped foster a culture of sustainability through knowledge-sharing sessions, awareness campaigns, and community engagement activities. Teams participated in beach clean-ups, fundraising initiatives, and local projects that strengthened connections with the communities in which the hotels operate.

A key aspect of the programme has been the opportunity for personal and professional development. Throughout the year, participants took part in quarterly learning sessions delivered in partnership with the University of Surrey, enhancing their sustainability knowledge, leadership skills, and understanding of responsible business practices.
The programme also created valuable opportunities for collaboration across brands, departments, and hotel locations. Through workshops, networking events, and team-building activities, Green Champions developed a strong support network of sustainability advocates committed to driving positive change across the business.

The achievements of the Responsible Business programme and its participants have not gone unnoticed. Throughout the year, the programme has received industry recognition through a number of award nominations and achievements, highlighting the positive impact being made across the portfolio.
The Green Champion network continues to demonstrate how grassroots action and colleague engagement can support wider organisational goals and contribute to long-term sustainability success.

As the 2025/26 cohort transitions from learning to leading, graduates have been encouraged to continue championing responsible business initiatives within their hotels and teams.
The Green Champion programme will continue to empower colleagues to identify opportunities for environmental and social impact, supporting the Group’s wider sustainability ambitions while helping create lasting positive change for guests, colleagues, communities, and the environment.
A special thank you goes to all Green Champions, hotel teams, leadership teams, partners, and everyone who supported the programme throughout the year. Together, we are proving that collective action can create meaningful and lasting impact.

Founded in 2010, 4C Group is an international property development and hotel management company with a growing portfolio spanning major business hubs and leisure destinations across the UK, East Africa, and Canada. The business builds upon the strong foundations of a family-owned property enterprise with roots dating back to the 1990s.
Over the years, 4C Group has established a reputation for delivering high-quality hospitality and real estate developments that combine innovation, design excellence, and long-term value creation. In 2021, the company expanded its hospitality portfolio with the launch of two landmark London properties – the five-star The Westin London City and Canopy by Hilton London City. Continuing its expansion within the residential sector, 4C Group partnered with Regal London and Pluto Finance in 2022 to deliver The Haydon, a premium residential development comprising 87 apartments in Aldgate, at the heart of the City of London. The project has since been completed.
Further strengthening its development pipeline, 4C Group and Regal secured planning approval in 2025 for the redevelopment of 33–35 Jamestown Road in Camden. The scheme will deliver 178 purpose-built student accommodation bedrooms alongside 27 affordable homes, complemented by flexible commercial space, enhanced green infrastructure, and an architectural approach inspired by Camden’s distinctive character and heritage.
