BREEAM In-Use 2026: 4C Group Raises the Bar on Sustainability
12 July 2026
At 4C Group, sustainability is more than a commitment – it’s a core part of how we operate our hotels and create long-term value for our guests, owners, colleagues and communities. As part of our ongoing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, we continue to invest in initiatives that improve the environmental performance of our assets while delivering exceptional guest experiences.
We are delighted to announce that 4C Group has received the BREEAM In-Use results. Following our initial assessment in 2023, both The Westin London City and Canopy by Hilton London City achieved an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM In-Use rating. Three years later, we are delighted to announce that both hotels have not only retained their Excellent certification but have also significantly improved their overall scores following the latest audit completed in July 2026.

The Westin London City has increased its overall BREEAM In-Use score from 74.0% in 2023 to 77.6% in 2026, comfortably maintaining its Excellent rating.
Several sustainability categories demonstrated notable improvements:
- Resources: Achieved a perfect 100%, up from 56.25%, demonstrating significant improvements in responsible procurement, resource management and waste reduction.
- Health & Wellbeing: Maintained a strong performance at 65.95% as compared to 57.45 in 2023.
- Resilience: Maintained a strong score of 83.33%.

Canopy by Hilton London City also demonstrated excellent progress, increasing its BREEAM In-Use score from 70.7% in 2023 to 76.0% in 2026, maintaining its Excellent certification.
Key improvements include:
- Resources: Improved dramatically from 31.25% to 100%, achieving full marks.
- Water: score increased from 65.79% to 68.42%.
These improvements are the direct result of the passion, commitment and collaboration demonstrated by our Green Champions and every member of our hotel teams. From implementing energy-saving initiatives and improving waste management to promoting sustainable procurement and encouraging environmentally responsible behaviours, every action has contributed to these outstanding results.

Achieving higher BREEAM scores is not simply about certification – it reflects meaningful operational improvements that reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create healthier, more sustainable environments for our guests and colleagues.
While we are delighted by these achievements, sustainability is an ongoing journey rather than a destination. As we continue to invest in our hotels, we remain focused on improving operational efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, enhancing biodiversity where possible, conserving resources and embedding sustainability into every aspect of our business.
About 4C Group
Founded in 2010, 4C Group is an international property development and hotel management company with a growing portfolio spanning major business hubs and leisure destinations across the UK, East Africa, and Canada. The business builds upon the strong foundations of a family-owned property enterprise with roots dating back to the 1990s.
Over the years, 4C Group has established a reputation for delivering high-quality hospitality and real estate developments that combine innovation, design excellence, and long-term value creation. In 2021, the company expanded its hospitality portfolio with the launch of two landmark London properties – the five-star The Westin London City and Canopy by Hilton London City. Both hotels marked significant milestones as the first UK openings for Marriott and Hilton’s respective luxury and lifestyle brands.
Continuing its expansion within the residential sector, 4C Group partnered with Regal London and Pluto Finance in 2022 to deliver The Haydon, a premium residential development comprising 87 apartments in Aldgate, at the heart of the City of London. The project has since been completed.
Further strengthening its development pipeline, 4C Group and Regal secured planning approval in 2025 for the redevelopment of 33–35 Jamestown Road in Camden. The scheme will deliver 178 purpose-built student accommodation bedrooms alongside 27 affordable homes, complemented by flexible commercial space, enhanced green infrastructure, and an architectural approach inspired by Camden’s distinctive character and heritage.
