Holiday Inn Express St. Albans Proud to Sponsor the St. Albans Postboxes’ Guinness World Record-Breaking Yarn-Bomb Event
11 December 2024
At the 4C Group we are delighted to partner with local charities that are dedicated to improving lives and making a tangible difference in society. That’s why Holiday Inn Express St Albans was truly honoured to host the St. Albans Postboxes World Record Attempt, showcasing 102 beautifully yarn-bombed postbox toppers—more than ever displayed in one town! This remarkable event was not just a fun celebration of creativity, but a testament to the power of community and charitable efforts working together to bring about real change.

Since its inception in 2018, the St. Albans Postboxes campaign has raised over £130,000 for worthy causes, and this year was no exception. The funds raised during the event are set to benefit Up on Downs and Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled, both of which provide invaluable support to individuals and families in our local area.

The event, which took place over three days, kicked off on Tuesday, 26th November, at Holiday Inn Express St. Albans. For the first time, 102 unique yarn-bombed postbox toppers were displayed at our hotel, drawing attention from people of all ages. The second day of the event included a quiet, family-friendly launch at the postbox outside Tesco on St. Peter’s Street, followed by the official launch at the Clock Tower postbox on High Street, St Albans.

We were thrilled to be joined by some very special guests for the launch, including the Member of Parliament for St Albans Daisy Cooper, Mayor of St. Albans, Jamie Day, and Annie Brewster, the first female Chairman of Hertfordshire County Council to take on the historic position of High Sheriff of Hertfordshire.

Beyond its local significance, the St. Albans Postboxes World Record Attempt also attracted national media attention, with coverage from BBC News and ITV’s This Morning. Our local press, including the St. Albans Times, also played a key role in spreading the word about the event and the incredible work being done by St. Albans Postboxes.
As a business that believes in the power of collaboration and community, we are grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of such a meaningful event. The St. Albans Postboxes campaign brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate creativity, raise awareness for important causes, and – most importantly – raise much-needed funds for charities that make a difference.
We encourage everyone to visit the yarn-bombed postboxes throughout St Albans and be part of history as we continue to celebrate this fun, festive tradition. Thank you to everyone involved, and to all who came out to support this amazing cause.
At the Holiday Inn Express St. Albans, we look forward to continuing our partnership with such partners who help bring about positive change in our community.
