Paddling for a Purpose: 4C Group and LDN London – A Partnership Making Waves

4C Group and Learning Disability Network London’s (LDN London) partnership goes a long way in fundraising and empowering adults and children with learning disabilities and their families across London. Our collaboration goes beyond fundraising, it’s about creating opportunities, raising awareness, and standing with the community. On 16th May, we hit the waters by taking part in the exhilarating Dragon Boat Race. Eighteen team members took to the water to paddle for a cause close to our hearts. It was a fun and high-energy way to demonstrate our commitment to inclusion and community engagement.
With its origins in China over 2,500 years ago, Dragon Boat Racing is one of the world’s oldest sporting traditions. We had 12 boats battling for victory. In a thrilling final, Land Before Tech (Search Land and Build Scout) edged out Dragon (HSBC and Computacenter) by less than half a second, while The Victory Vessels (VolkerFitzpatrick) secured third place. It was a brilliant day of teamwork, energy, and spirited competition.
In addition to the race, 4C Group supported LDN London through a series of fundraising initiatives. Six of our hotels hosted local events and bake sales, while our Head Office held a successful bake sale of its own. We also launched the 4C Group Raffle, further contributing to our collective fundraising efforts.
Thanks to the generosity, time, and enthusiasm of all those who took part—whether baking, rowing, organising, donating, or simply cheering us on—we were able to raise an incredible £13,000 in total for LDN’s Family Services, with £1,000 of that raised by the 4C Group.
