The Wave by Westin: Where Serenity Meets Sustainability
19 August 2024
The Wave by The Westin London City takes inspiration from the hotel’s location and pays homage to the iconic River Thames, serving as a reminder of the imperative to preserve both the river and its delicate ecosystem and to raise awareness of its biodiversity. After two years of drawing inspiration from the floral environment, this summer installation is created by the British artist and architectural designers Victoria Noakes and Veevers Carter, applying their talents across various eco-friendly mediums using recycled metals, banana fibre fabric, water-based dyes, deadstock fabric, and recycled wood.
The Wave aligns with the hotel’s commitment to sustainability through waste reduction, recycling, and upcycling. Many of the materials used have either been re-used from previous projects, upcycled from old or scrap materials, or can later be re-purposed for future projects. This eco-friendly approach highlights The Westin London City’s commitment to environmental consciousness and aims to educate kids and adults on their surrounding environment.
The designers’ vision offers a deep interpretation of the river’s essence, inviting guests to embark on a journey of discovery and reflection.
Catch The Wave at the Westin London City, it’s running until 15th September 2024.
